About Me

Hello! I’m Shyam, a first-year Master’s student in Computer Science at New York University, graduating in May 2027. I work on machine learning systems, with a focus on computer vision, audio ML, and data science.

I completed my B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from PES University, Bangalore. During my undergraduate years, I developed a strong foundation in computer science fundamentals while exploring various domains of artificial intelligence and machine learning. I’m particularly interested in building models for computer vision, developing efficient learning systems, training reinforcement learning agents, and working on audio ML applications.

Across my internships, I’ve tackled diverse machine learning challenges in research and industry. At IIIT-Hyderabad’s Cognitive Science Lab, I built ETL pipelines processing 40M+ EEG data points and developed spectral analysis systems to identify neural biomarkers for shared musical experiences. At Paralaxiom Technologies, I created India’s largest public safety dataset (66k+ images, 350k+ annotations) and deployed YOLOv8 models achieving 75%+ mAP50 for real-time threat detection. At Shopalyst, I optimized keyword extraction pipelines that improved CTR by 12% and trained Mask R-CNN models reducing manual annotation time by 40%. These experiences have given me hands-on skills in taking ML systems from data preprocessing to production deployment.

I’m currently looking for Summer 2026 internships in ML Engineering, Software Engineering, and Data Science. Check out my projects and publications to see what I’ve been working on!

When I’m not coding or studying, I enjoy adventures, cooking, running, trekking, and I also sing! To learn more about my musical background, check out my music page.
